The problem is Reaper controls General MIDI range only (1-127), as I think. OpenMidi, the free MIDI synthesizer OpenMidi hopes to be a console-based, full-fledged MIDI player, sequencer, and karaoke player that can be embedded in processors and can run under a variety of platforms. This is to be done by digitizing, or sampling - I just connect keyboard's audio out and soundcard line in & do recording - once it's done, I've got whole track as a sample - and can mix it with VSTi-s. I'd like to use Reaper as a sequencer and mix both VSTi instruments and those coming from my MIDI keyboard. XG voices are "extension" beyond standard General MIDI voices in many keyboards like my Yamaha. Heres an overview of the most important XG synthesis parameters, set out as they might be for a traditional hardware monosynth.
